An overview tour of Punta Cana. This is a quick sightseeing tour as you pass through the city on your way to Cueva de las Maravillas or the Cave of Wonders. Punta Cana Island,is a resort town within the Punta Cana-Bávaro-Veron-Macao municipal district, in the municipality of Higüey, in La Altagracia Province, the easternmost province of the Dominican Republic. The 800 meters of Cuevas de las Maravillas cave system was discovered in 1926. The cave is significant in Taino origin mythology and was decorated with hundreds of Taino Indian cave paintings. The Cave of Wonders have been open to the public since 2003. Our tour includes local lunch.

The caves are significant in Taino origin mythology. The Cave of Wonders have been open to the public since 2003. Although the cave has come under criticism for the way in which paths and lighting were installed, possibly damaging some of the caved geologic features, it was awarded the 2003 Gold prize in the International Landscape Architecture Bienal Award. Tours take about an hour.
